Dating App Statistics

How many people use dating apps, how many find a partner on them, and why men and women have such different experiences.

How many people use dating apps?

According to a 2023 Pew Research Center survey, 3 in 10 U.S. adults have used a dating site or app. Among adults under 30, it's more than half. Use falls sharply with age.

Do dating apps work?

Pew found that 1 in 10 partnered adults met their partner through a dating site or app, rising to about 1 in 5 among partnered adults under 30. Most users describe their experience as at least somewhat positive.

Men vs. women on dating apps

Experiences split sharply by gender. In Pew's survey, men were more likely to say they didn't get enough messages, and women were more likely to say they got too many, including unwanted ones. That imbalance shows up in the Delusion Calculator too, when filters meet the real pool.
