How your income percentile is estimated

We model individual earnings using U.S. Census Bureau data, with a median of about $50,000 a year for all people with earnings. The distribution has a long right tail, so the gap between the 90th and 99th percentile is huge.

What percentage of men make $100k?

Roughly one in five working men earn $100,000 or more, and the share is lower for women. Among single men under 30, it's much lower. That's why "six figures" filters cut the dating pool so hard. Test your full checklist in the Delusion Calculator.
