How Chinese zodiac compatibility works

The Chinese zodiac assigns an animal to each year in a 12-year cycle. Animals four years apart form a "trine" and are said to get along best: Rat, Dragon and Monkey; Ox, Snake and Rooster; Tiger, Horse and Dog; Rabbit, Goat and Pig. Animals six years apart are said to clash.

Birthdays in January or February

The Chinese year starts at Lunar New Year, between late January and mid-February. If you were born before it, use the previous year.
